RCB Vs MI: Match 7 Preview- Best Batsman vs Best Bowler, Bring it on!
Two fan favourite franchises none of which like to win at the start of the tournament, gear up for a mouth watering contest when the Indian Captain and Vice Captain get their teams out to get off the mark in the IPL. When the two powerhouses of Indian Cricket viz the Captain and the Vice Captain stroll out on the Chinnaswamy, for once of the twice Yearly event, Don’t expect a match Winning partnership. The Loyal fanbase that the RCB have, will turn up in numbers for their season opener at the ground that saw entertainment of the highest order from their favourite son and from their adopted son, will hope this encounter bears no different result than what it did the last time around. However this rivalry is expected to be heated up more because the Renowned Best bowler in the current bunch, is on a mission to get the Best batsman out as is seen in the promo that is doing the round. Boom boom is hungry and so is the King who gets the world to look at him in contests like these. However with a no update on the availability of the Death Over specialist in this game, the threat of “If not Bumrah, then who” looms large over the MI who still don’t have a like for like replacement for their main man. RCB meanwhile want to leave no page unturned in their quest to counter Bumrah as is evident by their attempt to get in a bowler to replicate Bumrah’s unusual action, to bowl to them in the nets. This match will have special spotlight on the Superman AB De Villiers who loves the Chinnaswamy as much as the bee loves the honey. It has been ages since Rohit Sharma played like the Rohit Sharma we know in the IPL and fireworks can be expected of him given his love affair with the RCB and the ground. Both these teams, having lost their previous matches by a fare margin now look to lock horns and get their campaign up and running. RCB will expect its batsmen to put up a formidable total after they were bundled out for a paltry 70 in 17.1 overs against the Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the season. With power-hitters like Kohli, AB de Villiers and Shimron Haymaker in the team playing in the ground that gives all bowlers a nightmare, that should not be an uphill task. Mumbai Indians can never be kept out of any game though, not specially after You see the batting depth that they possess with power hitters overflowing till as back as number 8. This game is expected to be a humdinger and RCB is expected to come out trumps against a fighting MI.
What to Expect : In the last T20I played at the venue, Glenn Maxwell cantered to a century against India in a game that saw the bowlers struggling because of the dew. Expect teams to chase keeping that in mind. And Since this is Chinnaswamy, expect the batsman to call the shots more often than not.
RCB : Parthiv Patel, Virat Kohli , Moeen Ali, AB de Villiers, Shimron Hetmyer, Shivam Dube, Colin de Grandhomme, Navdeep/Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj.
MI: Lasith Malinga will join the squad on Thursday and is highly unlikely to play the contest. Barring any last minute issues with Bumrah, the side should go in with the same XI that took on DC.
Rohit Sharma, Quinton de kock, Suryakumar Yadav, Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Ben Cutting, Mitchell McClenaghan, Rasikh Salam/Markande, Jasprit Bumrah.
