RCB Fail to “Turn” the tide at Chepauk, Again!
A familiar sight that the Yellow army whistling and celebrating at the top of their voices have now gotten accustomed to and today was no Different. The bubble that RCB find themselves inside against the Superkings has still not burst, though this one was a game you can hardly credit them for the loss or CSK for being the superior side. After winning the toss and electing to field first citing the obvious reason of not being vary about how the pitch will play because it was under covers for a week after being freshly laid on the ground a few days back. Much to a viewer’s nightmare, the strip played like giving complex to the best of minefields seen in test match on 5th days( The Nagpur test wicket against South Africa 2015 can now breathe easy). And to take the full monty was the Turbanator who rolled the clock back and struck prized scalps of Virat Kohli and ABD in consecutive overs. RCB was straight away dented and it was now on their backseat boys take over the driving duties but a zealous Imran Tahir and a pinpoint accurate Jadeja didn’t let them take over duties. The CSK side flooded with spinners did not even bowl half their options and found out the target to be 71. For RCB, you don’t win defending 72, no matter whatever the pitch is offering to Your bowlers and the only chances You have are taking the half chances that come your way. Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj didn’t really help RCB on that front and the evident result was a mere formality for most of it. But RCB can take pride in the way their new recruits in Navdeep Saini took charge. Defending a megre 72, they took the game to 18th over and as Kohli emphasised, It was good to have one such game done away with at the inception of the tournament. The word “intent” is associated with the Kohli led side and it is important for their middle order to show that. CSK on the other hand look highly untested as yet because of the nature of the wicket. Even an otherwise Captain Cool looked vexed and rightly said “If we continue to get this type of wicket, We would need the luck(pronounced toss) to go our way more often than not.” When MSD criticises, People listen and we can be sure that this minefield bloop up will be done away before CSK invite another visitor in their fortress because the Yellow army and all fans route this team for breathtaking performances and not such one sided games. If wickets like this are presented, Only KKR, SRH or KXIP look likely to breach this fortress as no other side is armed for this type of wickets. As far as RCB are concerned, it is really hard to guess which RCB turns up on which day- One that takes Your breath away in all departments or the One that plays like it doesn’t even belong at this level. As fans, let’s hope it is the one RCB downslide that they give every season and it’s an entertaining ride from here on. As things stand, “Ee Saala Cup Namde” looks a far cry. Try telling this to the Red Army that will continue to chant their usual slogans come Mumbai Indians at the Chinnaswamy.
Be Rest Assured, this Opener doesn’t represent what IPL is. The Eden Show and the Wankhede special awaits! (Sighs and hopes for a Super Sunday)
